Support

Set up a share, understand its status, and keep control of what is available from your PC.

Before you begin

  • A Windows 10 (version 2004 / build 19041 or later) or Windows 11 PC with an x64 processor.
  • Your own Cloudflare account and a domain using Cloudflare nameservers. You need permission to manage the selected account’s Tunnel, DNS, and Access resources.
  • A compatible web app already running on this PC over plain HTTP on localhost. Start the app and confirm that it opens locally before sharing it.
  • For private sharing, a Cloudflare Zero Trust organization and email sign-in. Cloudflare’s setup may ask for payment details; review the plan and terms shown by Cloudflare before confirming.

The PC must stay on, connected to the internet, and signed in to Windows. Homport supports browser access to compatible local web apps. It does not promise support for every app, native third-party clients, video or camera streaming, large file sharing, or uploads.

Create your first private share

  1. Open Homport and choose Sign in. Complete Cloudflare authorization in your browser, then return to Homport.
  2. Open Setup. Finish the Domain check. If private sharing needs setup, choose Open Zero Trust setup, complete Cloudflare’s steps, then return and choose Check again.
  3. Choose New share. Select the local app’s port, choose its address, and keep the access mode Private. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to allow.
  4. Review the details and start sharing. Wait for Homport’s checks. Unverified means the check has not confirmed readiness; it is not the same as Ready.
  5. Use Test sign-in. On a device outside your home network, open the share, sign in with an allowed email, and confirm that the expected app appears. Enter the one-time code only on Cloudflare’s sign-in page.

For a Public share, anyone with the link can reach what is available on the selected port. Review that app’s content and security before accepting the public-sharing confirmation.

For Cloudflare’s account setup steps, use its official Cloudflare One setup guide.

When a link does not work

Choose Diagnose for the affected share. Homport checks four layers. Follow the action shown for the first problem, then use Run again.

Connector
Check whether this PC is on, online, and unlocked in Homport. If the connector token changed on Cloudflare, use the app’s sign-in or reconnect action.
Your app
Open the app locally and confirm its port has not changed. If it is not running, start it yourself. Homport does not change your app’s configuration. HTTPS-only local origins or redirects to localhost can prevent sharing.
Address
Check the Domain item in Setup and the message shown by Diagnose. DNS changes can take time. If Homport says settings changed outside the app, review those changes before choosing what to keep.
Sign-in protection
For a private share, confirm the visitor’s email is in People. If Homport reports missing protection, use the offered repair action or Turn off; do not treat a page that skips sign-in as a successful private-share check.

Couldn’t check means the result is unknown. Network or authorization failures can prevent Cloudflare checks while local checks still work.

Email sign-in problems

Check the exact email spelling and its allowed-list entry. Look in spam or junk, use the newest code, and retry if it expired. A message saying an email is allowed only checks the configured list; it does not prove that an email was delivered or a sign-in succeeded. Enter codes in the browser, never in Homport or a support message.

Choose the right action

Close the window
Homport keeps running in the Windows tray. Open it again from the tray to manage shares.
Quit
Stops Homport and its connector, so this PC’s links go offline until you open it again. Quit does not remove Cloudflare resources.
Lock now / Unlock
Lock pauses all this PC’s shares and remains in effect after restart. Cloudflare settings stay in place. Unlock starts the connector and checks the links again.
Sign out
Ends Homport’s account authorization. It does not remove Cloudflare resources or stop existing shares. If shares were locked, they stay locked. Sign in again when you need to make changes.
Turn off
Permanently removes one share’s address and sharing configuration after confirmation. The local app itself stays running. If cleanup fails, keep the recovery information and retry when the problem is resolved.
Remove this machine
Removes this machine’s Homport shares and connector, then clears saved share data and credentials and signs out. Review what will be removed, then type REMOVE to confirm. It leaves your domain, Zero Trust organization, email sign-in method, and unrelated resources intact.

Uninstalling from Windows does not remove your shares on Cloudflare. Use Remove this machine first. Wait for cleanup to succeed before uninstalling.

If you already uninstalled, sign in after reinstalling and use Find shares on Cloudflare. Review the discovered machine and resources before choosing to manage or clean them up.

Changed settings or interrupted work

If you see Settings on Cloudflare changed outside Homport, Homport has stopped before overwriting the change. Review it, then deliberately choose whether to keep Cloudflare’s settings or restore Homport’s settings. Do not restore changes you do not recognize.

If a share was left half-done, use the recovery screen to continue or undo it. If removal was interrupted, retry cleanup. Do not delete local state to dismiss the message: it helps Homport identify and safely finish the work.

A sign-in request can appear again when account authorization expires. Existing shares use a separate connector credential, so the sign-in request alone does not mean a running share is offline.

Keep shares available

The startup option can reopen Homport after you sign in to Windows; it cannot keep a switched-off PC online. Windows or organization policies can block startup. Check the result shown in Settings rather than assuming it was enabled.

Keep awake can help with idle sleep while sharing, subject to Windows power policy. It does not turn on a powered-off PC or guarantee availability after a lid close, manual sleep, shutdown, or network outage.

Check About for the app and bundled cloudflared versions. If Homport warns that its connector is old, check Microsoft Store for an app update. Homport does not download a replacement connector in the background.

Prepare information for help

Note what you were doing, the exact visible error code, the app version from About, and whether the local app still opens on this PC. In Diagnose, choose Copy diagnostic report if you want to include the current check results.

The report is copied to your clipboard, not uploaded automatically. Review it before sending: it can contain your hostname, port, and setup details even after sensitive values are filtered. Do not share passwords, authorization or connector tokens, one-time codes, or an unreviewed screenshot of your Cloudflare account.

See Privacy for what Homport stores and how the removal actions differ.

Contact Homport

Email support@homport.dev for help with Homport. Include the app version, visible error code, and a short description of the steps that led to the problem. Add a diagnostic report only after reviewing it.

Cloudflare account, billing, and email-provider issues may need help from the service that controls them. Homport support will never need your password, connector token, or one-time code.
